Another promising rock acts spawning the rock and roll arena were, as beautiful as they are named Paraluman, would seems to orchestrate with their upcoming rocking actions, we assume. Plus the 'flower among the thorns' that seems to give more emphasis on the band badge, Paraluman. Madeline Ramboyong takes just few steps closer with that of the original Paraluman whose beauty of the years that were docks to every shore an impenetrable gaze.The group is made up of four gentlemen and a rose among the thorns, respectively on the floor: Madeline Ramboyong (lead vocals), RJ Romero (lead guitar), Vince Romero (bass guitar), Jay Macalincag (rhythm guitar) and Jimbo Cuenco (drums).
Paraluman graced us one time to read us stories of their formative years as well as their fruits of labor.
Madeline: “Classmates kami ni Jay saka si RJ noong high school, then kinulit lang ako nila na sumali sa banda (giggles).”
Jimbo: “May banda ako dati with the boys, then nag-quit ako. But then, may band na yung Paraluman babae yung vocals nila, pero hindi pa si Madeline. Tapus yun kinuha lang nila ako. Yun, nag work-out naman kasi hangang ngayon nandito pa ako (laughs).
Jay: Yun, seven years na kaming tumutogtog, kaming tatlo (pointing out to some other members) pero hindi pa paraluman n'on, hindi pa kami signed artists kumbaga, trip trip lang. Tapus, yun nangangailangan kami ng babaeng bokalista.”
RJ: Basically, parang masasabi ko na ako yung nag put-up ng band. Ever since music na talaga yung passion namin. Dati si Jimbo yung vocalist namin, pero parang hindi nya na-feel so na punta s'ya pag-dadrums.
Vince: Magpinsan kami ni RJ. Sinubukan ko na ring umalis noon. Pero kahit na malayo na ako sa kanila, bumalik ulit ako kasi akala ko kaya ko na 'di tumugtog, pero yung talagang hina hanap-hanap ko s'ya.”
By namesake, they never deed departed that far from the coveted figure of the sixties, Sigrid Sophia Agatha Von Giese or Paraluman; an alluring Filipina actress during the early Philippine cinema. “May listahan kami ng mga pangalan, then si Paraluman, sakto babae yung vocalist namin. Then kamukha n'ya si Paraluman (laughs). Besides, yung Eraserheads na isa sa pinakamalaki naming influence and may lugar sa Marikina na Paraluman St., eh taga Marikina kami.”
However, there are lot of things that this band have been missing in behalf of having a band; just like work, hobbies, personal and intimate life and health for the reason that they are to stay up during gig and some other events, whereas they are expected to be in bed or home.
Paraluman continues to scamper the local rock and roll scene, looking for fame and fortune; doing performances and no sooner hefty gig invitations to much bigger events.
IN LAB ALBUM TALKS
They made it through six months with their first album laid on the silver platter minced through time from the breakdown of the final songs list up to the recording.
The final lines up of their songs were shared brainstorming with their 'coaches' in the industry. So far in the recording it speaks more to them than them to the recording itself. One member says, “para kaming mga baby na natututong maglakad pa lang, talagang ginagapang pa namin.” Another member thinks that it's all about this, “inisip ko kasi pag recording, 'yun na yun. Nagulat ako na hindi pala ganon yun. Kailangan pala may mga baon ka rin na knowledge. Dapat spontaneous ka rin pala, kasi on the spot kung may kailangang palitan or dapat may handa ka man lang.”
“Madalas akong flat, minsan sharp pero sa recording sobrang natuto ako,” Madeline clarified herself during her rookie beginning on board the recording platform.The songs birth came with their own collaboration as usual as other bands do. Jay shares how he made it through Emily, “kailangan ko talaga subrang malungkot ako, kasi parang mahirap gumawa ng masayang kanta. Kaya yung Emily ginawa ko s'ya nong subrang down ako. Yun yung pinaka unang kantang naisulat ko.”
While “For You” is a literal tribute to just anybody who comes along the way of their lives. Jimbo on the other hand explains “How Could I” about a relationship that's getting unclear. “Kapag nandyan ayaw mo, kapag wala gusto mo,” he concludes.
“Made-Line” is the chorus of the group based on their personal experiences, perhaps, in and out of the band scene. “911” is a number expressing a friend’s broken heart and a song's consolation to it. Jay explained, “'yun yung kaibigan ko na umiyak s'ya sa akin na nabastid s'ya. Yun subrang lungkot n'ya. Tapus, 'sinuot ko 'yung sapatos n'ya.'” Further, he explains 911 stands for what, “yung 911 'di ba pag naaksidente ka, i-dial mo 'yung 911 para ma-rescue ka. Then may line kasi na 'if I have to crash my car.”
They are apt to more English songs and compositions than Tagalog, they said they're a bit slanted when making and singing Tagalog songs just like “Made-line.”
“In Lab” has been collaborated to be the carrier 'cause it brings the choruses in. “Kasi yung tema ng album is mainly about love,” one member said. “Saka 'in-lab' kaming lahat. Parang 'in-laboratory' na rin,” speaks Madeline. Jimbo adds, “experimental kasi mga songs d'yan.” That made it fresh from the lab itself.
“Fresh na fresh, pag pinakingan mo parang batang-bata” were just few of the distinguishing factors they have from other bands on the same line of management (Soupstar Entertainment), repectively.
The band made it to few lines thinking and thanking their fans then and ahead, “Maraming salamat sa inyong lahat at promise na gagalingan namin lalo. Kita kit's na lang sa gig salamat sa boto at suporta, at gagawa pa kami ng maraming kanta at maraming albums, saka stay “In-Lab.” Saka more gigs. Salamat din sa pagbili ng orig na album, expect us to be better musically.”
Whatever it will take them to push their career few levels ahead; there are still lot of things to be said and to be done that we will be watching to.
